PADI Aware Foundation Dive Against Debris® App

During employment at Rantmedia, an app development agency, work was undertaken on the development of an app for the PADI Aware Foundation's 'Dive Against Debris' survey. This app was designed to enable divers to record and categorise debris encountered during dives, supporting the foundation's marine conservation efforts.

The project involved translating the client's requirements into a user-friendly and visually appealing app. A key feature implemented was offline functionality, allowing users to add dive locations and record data without an internet connection, with synchronisation occurring later. This capability was crucial for divers operating in remote areas with limited connectivity.

The app's design incorporated illustrations for each section, which were animated to enhance user engagement and provide interactive feedback. These visual elements aimed to make the data collection process more enjoyable while maintaining the app's core functionality of supporting citizen science in marine conservation.

Key features of the app include:

- Recording location, survey area, and types and quantities of underwater debris

- Offline data collection capabilities

- User-friendly interface with animated illustrations

- Integration with the global marine debris database

By facilitating easy data submission and incorporating engaging design elements, the app aimed to encourage more divers to participate in the Dive Against Debris program, contributing valuable data to support marine conservation efforts worldwide.
